I had tea so I'm awake, slightly irate because there's no one to talk to, doing some CAD work and about to get rather bored.
I don't like having assignments during the esteemed month of Ramadhan because I cannot munch while I do work. My munch patterns are between 3 to 6 in the afternoon so midnight munchies are out of the question.
Do you ever wonder how silly it is when two religions clash?
Like how it's Ramadhan for Muslims and it's said that there are no evil spirits out during this month and at the same time it's the Hungry Ghost Festival where ALL evil spirits are out to do some damage? Is the Hungry Ghost Festival a Buddhist thing or a Taoist thing?
Anyway,
I have come to admit that I enjoy politics and economics based banter because it is thought provoking and gets me all riled up. It's a lot better than gossiping about random people who really have nothing to do with me. It also makes me feel like I am in some way contributing to the growth of a person's intellect at the same time being nourished by his or her ideologies, quotes, insight on the inner workings of such instruments and the processes they had called upon to come to such a conclusion. It's also really nice to see how some are more diplomatic than others when presenting an issue contrary to the momentary view.
Opinions can be fleeting or can stay stagnant and poised. It really depends on how adamant a person is and how much information they have in order to back up these opinions. Case studies can really help hit the nail square on the head as well as prior knowledge of the laws of a nation, societal implications, world economy and currency values, and use of some big words and Latin phrases uttered by big thinkers of olden times like Socrates and Plato, or Karl Marx. Even theocracy, democracy, socialism, communism and other social structures come into play.
These all help sum up the kind of people one hangs out with and depending on the type of person one is, can make or break a relationship. That said, I had always been supremely open-minded about ideas and opinions as I find that in a world such as now, never should any two people think alike. The human mind is too vast to constrict to just one type of thinking.
So, next time you hear words relating to the world at large, don't scoff! Keep your ears open. Who knows, you might learn something.
