Last catch ups with my peoples over dinner and away I go on a plane.
In the immortal words of Arnold... AHL BE BAHK!
DAY 29 OF THE 30 DAY SONG CHALLENGE! (a.k.a T-2D)
A song from my childhood?
Bob Marley I Shot The Sheriff my dad used to play Bob Marley albums when he sent me to school when I was 6. I went to
classes singing this song... While everyone else was running around being a bunch of idiots. Good times.
The most impressive piece of music I've ever heard?
Naturally, Thus Spake Zarathustra.
Kidding. I actually think it's the Imperial March but since it's been linked to already I'm going to have to go with Pink Floyd's Wish You Were Here.
Last day of February. Too fast, four years came and went and now I start a March to the land I call home. The city that has my heart.
A city that refuses to sleep.
A city that... is going to be hot as hell for a while because we're on the equator and fuck you, that's why!
I sit here at Streat for the last time in a long time (unless and until someone decides to franchise it in KL) eating some muesli. I feel like a cow as I continuously grind the bits of oat and nuts between my teeth. Waiting for the next bite. I'm awake early which is a bit unfortunate given I'd rather be rolling in bed, with my blanket, dead asleep. I'm waiting for the cleaners to be done with the work so I can get to the rest of the to-do list which is... not extensive, just tedious.
I can't wait to go home and do nothing.
DAY 28 OF THE 30 DAY SONG CHALLENGE! (a.k.a T-3D)
A song that makes me feel guilty?
Guilt inducing songs... guiiiiiiiiilt... ummm... I don't have one.
The last song I want to hear before I die?
This is a very good question and it assumes I would know to play it on my last breath...
If I had a choice in this matter... And there was someone to A) sing the piece or B) have a stereo system ready because apparently my death needs a backtrack...
In the right context... At the very end as I close my eyes... Killer Queen.
Mr. Kitty has gone to the boarding place to wait for his flight. :( I hope the poor widdle puddytat is doing okay. He's gonna be touching down in KL a day after me.
In other news, moved in to the flat with my parents while waiting to go home, 1/20 is no longer. It's cool. Galhalla: Part Deux will manifest itself in due time. Or maybe I'll come up with a better name.
DAY 27 OF THE 30 DAY SONG CHALLENGE! (a.k.a T-4D)
A song that I wish I could play?
Buckethead Pepper's Ghost. Fast and slow and fast and slow... C'epst complicate!
My favourite song by someone who isn't alive?
There's so many pieces of music I love from people who are dead but this one popped into my head first so here it is
Steaks. Again. Can never say no to steaks cos good lawdy lawd that shit's delicious.
DAY 26 OF THE 30 DAY SONG CHALLENGE! (a.k.a T-5D)
A song that I can play on an instrument?
Breaking Benjamin's Rain... but... I can't play and sing at the same time because I never bothered to practice. hahahahhaha...
Favorite song written in the 1960s?
Beatles' I Want You.
Seriously, when you jam out this song with a few friends it can only be gold... either amaazing musicalness OR comedy gold. Take your pick.
Parents have arrived in Melbourne and they wanted pie so off to Edinburgh Castle in Brunswick. I have to say, aside from a room that smells vaguely of pee... I was pleasantly surprised by the food!
DAY 25 OF THE 30 DAY SONG CHALLENGE! (a.k.a T-6D)
A song that makes you laugh?
Annie Get Your Gun Anything You Can Do ... Cos... Yes I caaaaaaaaaaaaannnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn...
I'm always so severely disappointed in restaurants that serve little plates of things. So sad. So hungry after the promise of delicious food.
DAY 24 OF THE 30 DAY SONG CHALLENGE! (a.k.a T-7D)
A song that I want to play at my funeral?
I don't have a song I want to play at my funeral........ Oh wait... Circle of Life? hahahahahahaha
Favorite song written in the 1980s?
Faith No Moooooooooooore's As The Worm Turns.
The original one was without Mike Patton and as we all know how big of a Patton fangirl I am, this version is obviously better.
OBVIOUSLY.
Delicious steak tonight, after an afternoon of rest and relaxation post SW'15.
DAY 23 OF THE 30 DAY SONG CHALLENGE! (a.k.a T-8D)
A song that I want to play at my wedding?
Kompang song... hahahahahah... But seriously, Sara Bareilles' I Choose You... Pikachu!
Favourite song written in the 1990s?
A song that was what the 90s were for me. Blur's Song 2.
Just waiting for everyone to just shout "WOOHOO!" And nobody really knew what he was singing...
Something along the lines of 'aigotmai hetchey, mai eychenbochay...'
Watch: Ne Oblivescaris, Fear Factory, Incubus, Soundgarden, Faith No More
Maybe if I get sick of FNM's set: Lamb Of God
DAY 22 OF THE 30 DAY SONG CHALLENGE! (a.k.a T-9D)
A song that I listen to when you’re sad?
Ehmmmmm... Vulfpeck's Outro hahahahaha or anything that sounds upbeat. Possibly even binge listen to Big Band Jazz.
A song you wish was played every time I entered a room?
Mahler does this bit between 17:36 and 18:30. The 'I-own-everything' intro. :D
But aside from that, this is a fantastic symphony. My current favourite, actually.
Watch: Apocalyptica, Godsmack, Papa Roach, Marilyn Manson and Judas Priest.
If I feel like it: The Smashing Pumpkins.
Aftermath:
Arrived halfway into Apocalytica's pretty awesome set. Mind you, I was feeling really horrible because my uterus hates me. Well, it doesn't hate me but it is doing its job and it hurts. -____-
Anyway, Apocalytica was a decent start to Soundwave given a few dudes who sound like Count Count were playing their cellos and singing on stage. LOVED. IT. Loved it even more when they ended their set with Hall Of The Mountain King which is one of my most favourite new-classical pieces.
Moving on to Everyone else except for Marilyn Manson, Big meh. MM on the other hand, BLEW THE STAGE WIDE OPEN! And I snuck past the front barriers as usual and got sprayed with water -- along with everyone else because it was a hot day and they didn't want us passing out. Essentially I made the annoyed wet cat face because my gadgets were being splashed on. Thanks, water-splashey dude.
Judas Priest, after 40 years of being in the metal business... You can tell la he's losing his pitch perfection but holy cow can he still go high. Jesus christ... I mean, Judas the betrayer!
And I did stay for The Smashing Pumpkin's set. They ended with a fantastic instrumental which I have no idea what it is because I'm not really a fan but if they had an overture, that would've been it.
And now, upload photos, charge up all my electronics, moisturise, rehydrate and sleep. The question I have plaguing me right now is whether I should skip Ne Oblivescaris and rock up in time for Fear Factory? Or. Go for Ne Oblivescaris and Stay at stage 4 with some food and drink and just enjoy basking in the moment. Decisions, decisions....
DAY 21 OF THE 30 DAY SONG CHALLENGE! (a.k.a T-10D)
A song that I listen to when I'm happy?
Shake Your Tail Feather by the Blues Brothers! And everything that makes we wanna dance around hahahahaha...
Favorite a Capella version of a song?
Ngehahahahahahaha... Bob Marley's Could You Be Loved.
Well? Could you?
Tomorrow is the metal weekend, there will be photo updates as soon as it's over. Also, White Night!
That is all for today.
DAY 20 OF THE 30 DAY SONG CHALLENGE! (a.k.a T-11D)
A song that I listen to when I'm angry?
The Agonist's Thank You Pain sits very well with me when I'm angry, but then lots of very fast, very heavy music sits well with me in dissipating my anger. Truly.
My favorite song from an under-appreciated artist.
I doubt she was really under-appreciated when I was a kid but she damn well is now. Here's Lauryn Hill playing Just Like The Water, live.
People talk about life like it's a series of steps just to make living bearable... And then you die.
What is life without the need to learn about everything?
What us life without the need to explore your inherent love for anything and everything?
What is life without living to your fullest potential?
What is life without trying to achieve your ultimate ideals?
You only live for yourself.
You only exist to make yourself happy and with that, be a beacon of strength to others. Someone people can trust. Someone they can gain positivity from. Someone real.
I've slowly come to understand this fact. Everything in life you do has a cause and effect. Let that cause be a prompt and the effect be unbound growth.
Live.
DAY 18 OF THE 30 DAY SONG CHALLENGE! (a.k.a T-13D)
A song that I wish I heard on the radio?
Monster Magnet Space Lord. That said... the video is horrible and hilarious. Hello, 90s! I'm not sure if I've missed you, Corny bugger.
My favourite song that is entirely instrumental?
Man, this is a toughy. Cliffs Of Dover by Eric Johnson, perhaps? It is a delightfully beautiful song.
DAY 17 OF THE 30 DAY SONG CHALLENGE! (a.k.a T-14D)
A song that I hear often on the radio?
I don't listen to the radio....... Really. I guess the closest bet would be what's the most played song on my playlist? Yes? Well, in that case it's Mumbo Jumbo's 2012 Pancake Mix.
My favorite song that’s over 50 years old?
Hall Of The Mountain King. It's actually 148 years old this year!
It also probably gives me anxiety because it's just so... hectic.
When I said I was going to eat ALL the seafood, I wasn't kidding. South Melbourne Market, man.
Freshly shucked oysters, came home with salmon, barramundi and squid.
And kale. So much kale. I have to make kale chips.
But before I actually make kale chips I actually have to find a legitimate recipe or ten and study them. And then come up with my own version.
DAY 16 OF THE 30 DAY SONG CHALLENGE! (a.k.a T-15D)
A song that I used to love but now hate
Dope You Spin Me, because there's so many versions of it... and because of that last version of it with Flo Rida. Fail eughhh... So much nope.
The best road trip song
2 and a half men's theme. and possibly every Queen song known to man.
*kring-kring kring-kring*
Today is for almost finishing the labelling of all my boxes, half my laundry and just bumming around enjoying my day in.
That said, it's amazing to still find out things about your lineage when you trawl the internets. In my bid to be the common man... Perhaps that was long ago decided to be a fool's errand.
DAY 14 OF THE 30 DAY SONG CHALLENGE! (a.k.a T-17D)
A song that no one would expect me to love?
Metric's Give Me Sympathy. Come on, it's catchy and dancey!
A song I'd blast with the windows rolled down?
4'33 by John Cage
Come on, guys. You know I'm not one to call attention to myself. Lagi la dalam kereta. Ish.
Here's a blast of culture for you philistines.
I woke up too early... WAAAAYYYY too early and now I'm sleepy again.
But I'm also hungry.
Come next week, I'll be so so broke...
DAY 13 OF THE 30 DAY SONG CHALLENGE! (a.k.a T-18D)
A song that is a guilty pleasure?
Joe Cocker's Leave Your Hat On is... EHEHEHEHEHEHE...
I think I had a conversation with Phuong about how if I were to try dancing to this... Fail mermaid would happen. Or just nonsexy flailing. hahahahahaha...
A song that I think reminds my friends of me?
The only line that applies in this entire song would be "They see me rollin', dey hatin'..." because I actually really find this song quite irritating.
